For the roof of a house there are two alternatives:
- metal tile
- ceramic tile
The roof of a house must have both a waterproofing role and a thermal insulation role.
Traditionally, houses in Romania are covered with ceramic tile, but the new models of metal tile coverings represent a viable alternative for any house.
Metal tile
Metal tile stands out through a considerably lower weight compared to ceramic tile, which leads to a substantial reduction of the costs related to the roof's resistance structure.
The raw material for metal tile is hot-dip galvanized steel, which is protected on both sides against corrosion by a multilayer system that also helps maintain the color for a long time.
Also, durability over time is another point where metal tile can compete, with guarantees reaching up to 50 years.
The installation of metal tile is done with the help of self-drilling screws, offering an almost perfect tightness
Ceramic tile
Ceramic tile has clay as raw material and stands out through very high resistance to the action of natural weather conditions: rain, frost, snow, hail, even
against fire.
Ceramic tile ensures good breathability of the house and has a lifespan that can easily exceed 50 years.
One of the disadvantages of ceramic tile is its very high weight, which requires the design of the roof's resistance structure so that it can support both the total weight of the tile and the snow load during winter.
Since it is made of ceramic material, there is a possibility of cracks or breakage, which is why it is recommended to keep a few pieces, especially because the models are very different in size and a later purchase may lead to incompatibilities.
From the point of view of aesthetic appearance, the ceramic tile market offers a very diversified color range.
